The process for applying Sculptra is a minimally invasive procedure and can usually be completed in less than an hour. The first step in the treatment is for your cosmetic care specialist to clean and prepare your skin. In some cases, a mild topical or local anesthetic may be used. They will then perform a series of injections following a grid pattern to sufficiently treat the targeted area.
Your personalized treatment plan will determine the actual number of injections needed. A typical plan recommends three treatment sessions spaced out over a few months. Following the treatment, you may experience some swelling, tenderness, discoloration, and discomfort. However, these tend to be very mild and resolve themselves within 48 hours. Most of our Los Angeles sculptra patients are able to return to their normal routines by the next day, although care should be taken to protect the treated area from stress and exposure to heat and sunlight.
